National Rail and Transportation Institute of India

Formerly known as the National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI), it was established by the Ministry of Railways in 2018 as India’s first university focused on transport and logistics. In 2022, it was upgraded by the Parliament to a Central University and rebranded as Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), marking its transition into a broader institution dedicated to the entire transportation and infrastructure sector.

The university is uniquely designed to provide specialized education and research in transport technology and management. It offers a range of interdisciplinary programs—including B.Tech, BBA, M.Tech, and MBA—that integrate engineering, management, and technology. Its curriculum is built to support the development of high-skilled professionals specifically for India’s massive infrastructure projects, such as the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan.

Located in Vadodara, Gujarat, the institution benefits from deep industry integration. Being supported by the Ministry of Railways and other transport sectors, it provides students with unique access to internships, live projects, and exposure to the operations of Indian Railways and leading infrastructure companies. This hands-on approach ensures that graduates are industry-ready to manage the complexities of modern, integrated transport networks.
